There are many possible combinations that we can try with Port.

Here are some suggestions for you to try:
  • White: appetizers, lean fish, salads, pasta
  • Tawny: foi-gras, pates, dried fruit, caramel, conventual desserts 
  • Vintage & LBV: meats, strong cheeses, red fruits, chocolates
  • Rosé: appetizers, salads
 
Serving Temperatures
Port and Muscatel: due to their sweetness and high alcohol content, the best way to enjoy a Port or Muscatel wine is to drink them at low temperatures:
  • 8°C-10°C for white and rosé wines
  • 10°C-12°C for Tawnys
  • 12°C-14°C for Rubys

PAIRINGS AND DOURO DOC WINES
There are many possible combinations that we can try with Douro DOC wines.

Here are some suggestions for you to try:
  • Vintage Whites: quick dishes, salads, fish and seafood, pasta and risotto, white meats, pizzas as well as oriental cuisine
  • Reserve Whites: oven-baked fish and white meats with butter and/or cream-based sauces, seafood as well as oriental cuisine.
  • Vintage Reds: grilled food, meats and especially white meats, stews and light cheeses. 
  • Reserve Reds: well-seasoned dishes, red meats, game, and strong cheeses.
 
Serving Temperatures
Douro DOC Wines - these wines, depending on the type of wine, colour and age, must be drunk at the following temperatures:
  • 11°C-13°C white and rosé wines
  • 14°C-16°C red wines 
White Port Sangria
White Port Sangria
Ingredients
• 500 ml Vista Alegre Fine White Port
• 500 ml carbonated water (or 7up)
• Brown sugar - 2 to 3 level teaspoons, depending on the intended sweetness
• Lemon juice (about 50 ml)
• Assorted fruits (white or light green) cut into cubes (apple, pear, melon, pineapple, lemon)
• Several sprigs of mint
• Small cubes of ice
 
Preparation
Add to a 1500 ml jug:

• The various fruits, peeled and cut
• The Port, carbonated water, sugar and lemon juice
• Stir slightly to mix
• Fill the jug with the ice cubes
• Garnish with 2 to 3 sprigs of mint.
RED PORT SANGRIA
RED PORT SANGRIA
Ingredients
• 500 ml Vista Alegre Ruby Port
• 500 ml carbonated water (with lemon)
• Brown sugar - 2 to 3 level teaspoons, depending on the intended sweetness
• Orange juice (about 50 ml)
• Various fruits (red or orange) cut into cubes and/or slices (orange, peach, strawberries, raspberries, black grapes, pomegranates)
• 2 to 4 cinnamon sticks
• Nutmeg powder.
 
Preparation
Add to a 1500 ml jug:
 
• The various fruits, peeled and cut
• The Port, carbonated water, sugar and orange juice
• Stir slightly to mix
• Fill the jug with the ice cubes or crushed ice
• Sprinkle with a little nutmeg
• Garnish the jar with 2 to 4 cinnamon sticks.
Pineapple Cocktail

Ingredients
• 1/3 Vista Alegre Fine White Port
• 2/3 pineapple juice
• 5-6 ice cubes
• Pineapple slices
 
Preparation:
• Add the pineapple juice to the mixer
• Pour in the Vista Alegre Fine White Port and shake well
• Pour into a glass and add the ice cubes

Ingredients
• 1/2 Vista Alegre Dry White Port
• 1/2 tonic water
• 5 ice cubes
• 2 mint leaves
 
Preparation
• Add the tonic water to the mixer
• Pour in the Dry White Port and shake well
• Pour into a glass and add the ice cubes
• Garnish the glass with the mint leaves
PORTO ROSÉ

Ingredients
•100 ml Fine Rosé Port
•Fresh rosemary
•Orange
•Ice in large cubes

Preparation
In a Port Wine Glass:
•Place the ice (glass filled)
•Add an orange slice
•Put a little sprig of fresh rosemary
•Pour the port

Ingredients
• 1/3 Vista Alegre Reserve Ruby Port
• 2/3 red fruit juice
• 5 ice cubes
• Piece of strawberry
 
Preparation
• Add the red fruit juice to the mixer
• Pour in the Reserve Ruby Port and shake well
• Pour into a glass and add the ice cubes
• Garnish the rim of the glass with the strawberry
